Symptoms — Excessive Thirst

The Family Health Guide

Excessive Thirst

Sudden or short-term excessive thirst is usually due to a loss of body fluids caused by perspiring. Eating salty foods can also cause thirst. Persistent thirst accompanied by changes in urine production, abdominal pain, or headache requires your doctor's attention.

Have you been working or exercising to the point of perspiring, especially in hot and humid conditions, or have you had fever, diarrhea, or vomiting?
