Our bodies constantly create new skin cells designed to die off and form a protective barrier in the uppermost layers of skin. These super-thin layers are pushed toward the surface, where they are shed naturally or stripped off through physical or chemical exfoliation.  

Exfoliation can’t scrub out wrinkles or transform aging skin into dewy, new skin. But it can buff up skin luster, smooth bumpy “chicken-skin,” and may unclog pores –– if done correctly and not too often.
