I just read about a new technique developed for creating clusters of insulin producing cells in the lab. This technique uses a cell conditioning solution originally developed to trigger reproduction of cells from the lining of the intestine. This is fairly similar to work researchers were doing last year around the cultivation of insulin producing cells within the intestines. You can read about this research project here: http://www.availclinical.com/news/researchers-take-new-approach-to-treating-type-1-diabetes/
