Thanks so much for such a thorough article describing the role of a Health Coach. I recently became a Certified Health Coach through ACE’s Health & Wellness Coaching program, and am excited to begin helping others achieve their health goals!

One place to start might be by contacting one of the 4 programs I listed in the blog (though I’m sure there are many other good programs). Good luck!

If you could find and cite those studies that would be much appreciated. Unclear what “specific types of health coaching” are — it is not a specialized field such as Cardiology or Obesity. Coaches tend to be generalists, like primary care doctors. There ARE different types of coaching, such as Executive coaching, but they aren’t “health coaching” per se. Again, if you could find and reference those studies you are seeking, that would be fantastic, but I am not sure these “well-structured” studies which drill down into effectiveness of “specific types” of health coaching exist. It is a relatively new field so the “just as is done with other health care tools” standard may not pertain.

Be helpful if some well-structured studies of the effectiveness of specific types of “health coaching” were cited instead of just saying it’s effective. Just as is done with other health care tools.
