Free app predicts risk of heart attack

A new app can help you determine your risk of heart attack or stroke. The free app, which is part of the Million Hearts Initiative sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute, can be downloaded from iTunes or www.hearthealthmobile.com. It is easy to customize with information on your age, weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking habits, and other data that influence heart health. The app then provides two choices for learning your heart risk and what you can do about it: a conventional heart risk assessment, or games. The app is currently available for iPhones and iPads, but versions for other platforms will be rolled out this year.
