Sure seems to result in dogs being lonely. I’ve lost count of how many people I see at the beach (on the OR coast) and elsewhere w/their dogs. and their cellphones or tablets. The dogs, if they’re not running off & jumping on other people’s dogs, harassing shore birds, etc., are staring at their owners, who are ignoring them & staring at their screens instead. For up to 30 minutes w/only occasional glances at their dogs.

No doubt, if asked, each of these dog owners would say they “loved” their dog.
