Balance or vision problems and medication side effects can make you vulnerable.
Falls are a top cause of injury among older adults. That's why it's important to reduce your fall risk by removing hazards such as floor clutter, long electrical cords, and throw rugs. But one of the most dangerous risks is the one you can't see. "I think health is actually the biggest risk factor," says Dr. Esteban Franco-Garcia, director of geriatrics inpatient fracture trauma services at Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital.
