One of the best exercises, and one which requires practically no space, is to stand and go up on your toes, holding yourself up for about 6 seconds, then go down on your feet, flat, for six seconds, and repeat it a few times or many, depending on your condition. You can do this standing behind a chair, lightly gripping the chair to keep your balance. This is very good for pushing the blood out of your legs, strengthening leg muscles, improving circulation. If you are out of shape, start with a small number at a time – maybe five, which is a minute’s worth — and increase day to day, because this makes a bigger strain on your body than you might think.
