Harvard Health Letter

Editor's note

Dear Readers,

The back page of every issue of the Health Letter is devoted to answering questions from you, our readers. In May 2008, we tried something new and turned over the entire issue to the "By the way, doctor..." question-and-answer format. Readers wrote and said they liked it, so we're back with an encore.

The topics covered reflect our readers' broad interests. They range from diabetes treatment and hammertoes to tremors and a study of ginkgo biloba for prevention of dementia.

I hope you enjoy it — and maybe learn a few things and gain some insights that will help you live a longer and healthier life. I did.
