Could your joint pain be bursitis?

Sharp shoulder pain that includes tenderness, swelling, redness, and stiffness may be the result of an inflamed shoulder bursa.

The tip-off may be swelling near, but not in, the joints.

Joint pain is a common complaint as we age, but the cause isn't always arthritis. Sometimes another condition can result in pain, stiffness, swelling, and tenderness around the joints. It's called bursitis.
