Meet the Authors

The true authors of The Fertility Diet are the 18,555 women in the Nurses' Health Study who answered countless questions over an eight-year period about their diets, weights, exercise habits, beverage preferences, pregnancies, and troubles getting pregnant. The millions of bits of information they provided form the foundation of the book.

Lead author Jorge E. Chavarro is a native of Bogotá, Colombia. After earning master's and doctoral degrees in epidemiology and nutrition, at the Harvard School of Public Health, he has taken a lead role in the fertility component of the Nurses' Health Study.

Walter C. Willett, who chairs the Department of Nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health, is one of the most influential nutrition researchers in the world. His bestselling book, Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy: A Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating, summarizes and simplifies what's known today about healthy diets.

Patrick J. Skerrett has been writing about science and health for more than 20 years. He co-authored Eat, Drink and Be Healthy with Dr. Willett, and has written several other books. He is the editor of the Harvard Heart Letter.
